The Woman He Played

The Woman He Played

The Woman He Played, Oil on canvas, 24 x 48 inches 2026

I painted this piece from a place of deep thought about relationships and control.

At first, it looks like a man playing a guitar, with three women standing behind him. But to me, the guitar is not just an instrument — it represents a woman. The way he holds it, the way he plays it… it feels more personal than just music.

I wanted to show how sometimes people “play” with others emotionally, like an instrument. Creating something beautiful, but at the same time, there’s a question of control — who is really in charge?

The three women in the background represent different reactions. One might be watching, one might understand, and one might be silently questioning what’s going on.

I didn’t try to make it perfect. I focused more on expression — the long necks, the strong colors, especially the red, which for me stands for passion, tension, and something deeper.

This painting is open to interpretation, but for me, it’s about how connection can sometimes feel like performance.
