The day my life changed forever…
The day I became a mother.

January 13th, 2020, my life completely drastically changed. I had only left my room to head towards the bathroom when a family friend looked at me, and had told me I looked like I was getting fat. I chuckled, and put my head down, so she couldn’t see my pain. I’ve lost a lot of weight since high school, and felt great about myself, u til this comment. She then looked at me, handed me a couple of dollars, & told me to make my way to the store to buy a pregnancy test. I quickly took the change, and headed out the door to the local Dollar Tree. As I arrived home, I headed for the bathroom for what felt like eternity trying my hardest to go, so I could test. When the moment came, I then laid the test face down on the counter.
Two pink lines, two beautiful pink lines when I flipped the test back over. I started crying dramatically, excited to call my boyfriend and let him know the good news. I rushed out the bathroom to look at that family friend, and when I showed her my positive test, she hugged me. Hugged me so tight, I felt relieved.
I called my boyfriend..: no answer. So, instead I called his mom, whom he was with at that moment. As she answered the phone, I told her I had some big news to tell my boyfriend, and she then started questioning me what it was. I spoke to her as it was just too big to tell over the phone. Quickly, she caught on.
When my boyfriend arrived home, he came up to me, where I showed him the two test, the two pink lines just as dark as can be. Grabbing my hands, he pulled me out of my seat, and wrapped his arms around me. With tears in his eyes, he said “we’re going to be parents”.
January 23rd, a few weeks later, I had made an appointment to see the doctors to make sure I was, in fact, pregnant. When the nurse called my name, and handed me over some information books about pregnancy, I knew it had to be true.
Months went by very quickly, to the day we had our gender reveal. The moment we had all been waiting for, was it a little boy or a little girl?
As my father hopped in his Porsche as my father in law set the little black bag of either blue or pink powder in front of his tire, we had locked arms and was getting very impatient. My father started to spin his tires, and when he pulled forward…POOF…bright pink powder flew up into the air. A baby girl.
As the next few months resulted in a LOT of preparing & planning, we had finally come up with a name.
Karsyn Raeleigh Ella Burnside was born on September 11th, 2020 at 1:17pm, weighing 7lbs & 5oz. When I first looked into her eyes, I felt a sensation as if this is what my life was supposed to be like. The pain turned into joy. The love I felt for this little tiny human in my arms grew much deeper.
That’s when I realized I have a lifetime best friend in the palms of my hands. From there on, she has brought me so much joy.
Here I am, writing this, crying uncontrollably, because she will be 2 in just 2 months, and I am so glad to be able to watch her grow. 💖
Mommy loves you, Chunko. Forever & Always. 🫶🏼
