Elegance of Maturity: Living Light
Finding Elegance and Peace Through the Power of "Cleanliness"
A woman’s most comfortable state is this: a clean appearance and a pure heart; accepting all of life’s gifts with equanimity; and living each morning and sunset to the fullest.
At 40, I truly understood the preciousness of "cleanliness." It is not a monotonous plainness, but rather less clutter and more composure.
Cleanliness of Body I am no longer blindly chasing trends, but finding a style that truly suits me. I choose simple cuts, soft colors, and appropriate, modest clothing. A clean appearance is more pleasing to the eye than layers of heavy embellishment.
Cleanliness of Home Home is a corner of peace. I regularly declutter unnecessary items to let the space breathe. I no longer buy unnecessary decorations, keeping only basic, simple furniture. A home only needs a bouquet of flowers and a ray of sunshine. The cleanliness in every corner provides the most reassuring sense of security.
Cleanliness of Food I used to crave strong flavors, but now I love the true essence of food. Less oil, less salt, but plenty of flavor. I chew slowly, savoring the natural sweetness of the ingredients. When the stomach and heart are lightened, the body returns to lightness. Life becomes refreshing.
A Pure Heart Friends need not be many, as long as they are of high quality. I stay away from draining relationships and cherish those friends with whom I can occasionally gather and feel completely comfortable. The friendship of a middle-aged woman is a tacit understanding that nourishes the soul.
A Pure Mind I am no longer easily disturbed by external voices. I have learned to filter information and let go of pointless comparisons. I don't dwell on others’ opinions, and I listen selectively. I refuse to worry about things that haven’t happened yet. I allow myself occasional laziness, solitude, writing, and daydreaming.
The purity of 40 is a light and carefree attitude toward life. It strips away the superficiality, leaving only what truly matters: comfort, freedom, and being true to oneself. May we all cultivate this purity over time.
