If Only I Could Turn Back Time

Everything would be ok now in my life

If Only I Could Turn Back Time

If only I could turn back time,

I would step lighter on that forked road,

the one turn I took,

the one step I chose,

that changed my everything into nothing.

I remember the air that day,

the weight of choice pressing on my chest,

the quiet whisper of what could be,

drowned by what seemed right.

One wrong turn, one split second,

and suddenly the world shifted,

colors dulled, voices faded,

laughter became a memory I couldn’t touch.

I gave my heart to a shadow,

followed a path lined with promises

that were never mine to keep,

and the echoes of that choice

haunt every empty room I walk into.

Regret is a heavy companion,

its fingers tracing my spine,

reminding me of doors I didn’t open,

hands I didn’t hold,

words I ditched, I should have spoken.

If only I could turn back time,

I would see the signs I ignored,

hear the silence I mistook for peace,

and choose differently,

anything is better than this aftertaste.

Yet here I stand,

hands empty, heart bruised,

learning that some turns are forever,

and some roads

cannot be retraced.

If only I could turn back time,

but time does not bend,

and I am left

with nothing but the shadow of my choice,

and the long, unbroken ache of regret.

To me a poem of lessons learned good and bad. Good job.
