Microbiology

in the South

She was always February in Chicago,

glass and steel rising

above the frozen lake,

after the spring cotillions

allowing pillars of society

to keep their jobs,

allowing a yankee to steal the quarterback,

leaving him in divorce court after a Catholic roll in the hay he converted to earn,

the tan line on her left hand

kept her out of tri-Delta, dismissed

to the stench of the

biology lab, wearing sweater sets under her lab coat,

forcing her way into another field

thst never wanted her.

You are on a roll today! This poem has me itching with questions; mostly who "She" is. I love the title, by the way, and how you dazzle me with your words, as always.
