the path

fueled

by desire

forged

by deceit

overwrought

by obligation

acquired by

a diamond

that secured

a promise

to forsake

all others

not to

break

nor decimate

my heart

deceit

his bedmate

a vendetta

disguised

as love

intended

to erase

the lust

in his letters

the words

that set fire

never forgotten

still haunt

my flesh

desire

that once

enamored

recorded like

a ritual

a line

a word

each confession

a collection

reminders

of lore

a love story

now fated

betrothed

by submission

predestined

for failure

long before

those etchings

scorched

earth eternal

sent me

deep

down

a

chasm

no words

to reply

the regret

is

all

mine

About the Creator

Greer Monroe

not everyone has an inner monologue — diabolical. I enjoy the rhythm of words — how they play & flow & consume & grow. words build something inside me — an escape to freedom without taking up space ♥️
