The Beast
Locked in a fortress built for peace

Writers note: This is my attempt at writing lyrics for a song 🎵
Kill the beast… the beast.
Emotionally deceased.
Mind trapped, still fighting your disease.
Locked in a fortress I built for peace,
Time passing like the petals at my feet.
The constant taint
of your complaint,
that I lacked restraint,
deserved my fate.
Kill the beast… the beast.
Emotionally deceased.
Mind trapped, still fighting your disease.
Locked in a fortress I built for peace,
Time passing like the petals at my feet.
You made it clear that love was fear,
a pain seared beneath my hair and beard.
I’ll protect myself in solitude,
and I lost the need to be seen as good.
I’m the beast… the beast.
Emotionally deceased.
Mind trapped, still fighting your disease.
Locked in a fortress I built for peace,
Time passing like the petals at my feet.
You arrived,
quieted my pride,
let my rough exterior slide.
Though a beauty hard to find,
what enchanted me was your mind.
Flags turn from red to green,
patience grows where anger used to be.
Your love has opened my closed doors;
my protection is now forever yours.
Tame the beast… the beast.
Emotionally unleashed.
Mind released and freed from disease.
A world where I don’t have to bleed,
enchanted petals bloom at our feet.
