Two Fish and Their Ponds
You can't help those who ignore your efforts

You are a fish,
your species likes clear water.
You observed, you found patterns,
you read; you gained wisdom.
You swim in clear pond
you are thriving.
Then you another fish,
gasping for breath
in muddy water.
You tell it
there is a way to swim
without turning the pond turbid.
It doesn’t listen,
says, you are preaching.
says, you are making it feel small.
It keeps flapping, ungracefully,
making the water muddier,
gasping even more.
You see its misery,
your empathetic heart aches,
but how long will you spend
in these futile efforts?
You tried to help.
Life is short,
you can't spend it
doing something
that does not move the needle.
So, you let go,
now, you focus
on admiring the lotus,
for your breath is effortless.
Note: You can help on those who want to be helped.
