Sewing by hand is a peaceful pastime
When I was a young girl in elementary school, my great-grandmother taught me how to thread a needle. I found it fascinating, although sometimes frustrating as I attempted to push that single thread through the eyehole. I have found over the decades that projects that require me to sew by hand have a therapeutic effect. The concentration and focus necessary to complete such tasks is a great way to slow down and pay attention.

"Whatever happened to"? is a question that is often asked when popular old school actors are seen on retro television networks. Sometimes when viewing a decadesmold series you might recognize a face or a character but cannot recall the name of the actor in the role.

Happy Harmonies "Bottles" episode is a true classic
Children growing up in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s probably never thought about the origin of the cartoons they enjoyed or how long they had been around. I caught an episode of TOM and JERRY recently on MeTV Saturday morning cartoons. One animated short that came on brought back fond memories for me, It was a Happy Harmony short titled BOTTLES and I was stunned to find out it was created in 1936. It's hard to believe that 2021 year marks 85 years of this classic short.

The Wizard of Oz saga of Dorothy's ruby red slippers
1939 was a very good year It all began with the 1939 film adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". In the book, Dorothy's shoes were silver, but in the movie, the color was changed to red. This was done in order to take advantage of Technicolor which at that time was pretty new. The opening and the ending of the film were in sepia tones which is why it appeared as a brown tint rather than black and white.

Grief 101 Moving is not the same as moving on.
I share my stories based on my personal journey since the death of my husband of 40 years. My experience is not everyone's but there are many widows and widowers who can relate. Today I feel like an empty park bench that needs someone to sit on it to be complete. I am moving and doing and going but definitely not moving on.

Witch Hazel is absent from Space Jam A New Legacy
SPACE JAM A NEW LEGACY opened in theaters on Thursday, July 15. The combination of live-action and animation made the 1997 film an instant hit. There will be one cartoon character who will not be returning for the sequel and that is Witch Hazel. When most people hear the name Witch Hazel they probably think about the plant based astringent that is used as a topical medicinal product. When Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies cartoons are mentioned it is Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and the Tazmanian Devil who most often come to mind.

Constance Ford: a memorable unique actress
Constance Ford: A force of nature Ford had a face and personality that is hard to forget. She was referred to what was called back in the day as a cool blonde. Ford had a stare that was so ice ice cold and in her various roles she was either extremely vulnerable and taken advantage of or a fierce bitch and ruthless. Sometimes fans would see both sides of the actress in one character.
