"All my life been grinding, all my life, sacrificed, hustled, paid the price"—Nipsey Hussle Too Soon R.I.P. The man that brought you the current car of the future by way of the Tesla company and a car currently floating in space has now given us the tribute of all tributes... I'd be remiss if I didn't pay an actual tribute to our brother in Hip Hop that passed away recently. R.I.P. to the Grammy award nominated west coast representative Nipsey Hussle. You were taken so suddenly and young, it hurts our collective hearts and you will not be forgotten. This death is on the forefront of our hip hop news cycle so I chose a lighter topic to discuss for much needed levity. My thoughts are with your famili and you're in my prayers brethren.

Jay Park: Hip-Hop’s Underrated Mogul
Some artists, despite being uber-talented and possessing the skill set to shake the music industry, are simply “slept on.” It’s a clichéd phrase nowadays, but the truth is, in modern music, some musicians aren’t given enough credit for their craft, nor are their works treated with the attention and courtesy they deserve. Sure, the artist or band may be able to sell-out festivals on their own, but there’s still the lingering feeling that the mainstream media doesn’t quite give them the respect they deserve. However, despite this, they still manage to carve out their own legacy, and become trailblazers of their own movement, inspiring generations to come.

Mokyo—Music For the Mind
Music is an art form, a captivating lens in which we can gain insight into the inner psyche of its artists, a gaze into the world we live in through differing perspectives, or simply just a form of recreational relaxation. It’s a complicated thing to master, but every once in a while a musician comes along that completely flips any and all preconceived constructs or definitions on their respective heads, and redefines what it’s like to be an artist.

'Leaving Neverland'—A Legacy That May Never Be Confirmed
Leaving Neverland, a two-part HBO documentary that chronicles the stories of two men who report they were sexually assaulted by legendary pop star Michael Jackson, is a story that may have needed to be told by some, but for others, may only pour salt in a lifelong wound.

Does T.I. Stand for the Intellectual?
There once was a Douglass High School principal in Atlanta, Georgia who encouraged his students to employ a sophisticated vocabulary in their speech. He walked the hallways like a southern Joe Louis Clark whose sections of his life made it to the big screen as played by Morgan Freeman in Lean on Me (1989). Enter Clifford Harris. A young knucklehead who was as backward as his hat in his ways. Even though he would drop out of high school eventually, he never forgot the teachings and lessons that he learned from this Atlanta principal. Fast forward about twelve years and one of the hottest MC’s to ever come from the womb of the South, T.I./TIP emerged with a flow and a unique way of expressing his music like the blues. He picked up the slang of the streets and called it trap music, stylized as TRAP MUZIK. After a slew of altercations with the law, T.I. would be a number one best selling artist while contending against the clutches of the carceral system.
