“Outro: EGO” is the Best Thing of 2020 so far
We’re getting so much closer to the highly anticipated comeback of BTS, and the anticipation keeps getting stronger. The next teaser for their album, Map of the Soul: 7 has just been released and it features none other than the dynamic and energetic J-Hope. This song, "EGO", is labeled as the outro to round out RM’s intro, Persona, on their previous album, and Suga’s Shadow, which was released a few weeks ago. With a wildly different tone, EGO will be an explosive lead-in to the album’s release.

The Power of Rain
For me and probably for a lot of people, the sound of rain is the most soothing sound to hear; from the roar of water hitting the ground to all the “pings,” “plops,” “thumps,” sounds that drops of rain can make on their decent. The sounds of rain have become so treasured that recordings of the rain have been made to meet the market of rain loving souls. There is a calm peace to the sound of rain. Maybe it’s human instinct that is found of the sound of what our lives have revolved and still revolve around. Rain, the bringer of fresh water, magic to plants and humans around the world. And there is a magic to this weather pattern. It gives relief to the dry, the thirsty, the dirty. Rain leaves the world refreshed if only for a moment. Water reflects of surfaces, catching light and releasing it. Rain is enjoyed during and after it has fallen, whether in puddles to be splashed or water droplets waiting to be caught. Something so amazing and magical can hardly ever be recreated. So, at best the emotions behind it, that it carries, that it leaves behind, can be captured and made into something. And that something I have found in a song.

So let’s start at the beginning. Ever since Cal-L dropped his first album Resplendence in mid-March of 2019 we’ve been able to notice that his electrifying sound is something very different than most other artist in this New Age hip-hop era. Instead of verses full of violence or drugs he’s taken a more “youthful” approach to the game painting us pictures of a heroes journey through the 21st century. He’s on many occasions stated that he, “intends to path his way to the top of the industry doing things his own way.” in Super-Hero fashion it seems, a way only the Superman of Entertainment can pull off. With his newest EP Outer-Space he does just that. Not only is it filled with golden nuggets of relatable knowledge it also gives us a feeling of hopping into a spaceship with Cal-L as he takes us on a journey through his universe.
