Rachel Reviews: Femme Fatale : Shades of Retribution by Italia Tornabene
I do like a book with a strong female character: one who is a mother, a fighter, a friend, smart, determined and who has the resolve to see things through to the end. Italia Tornabene has created such in Italia Rossi who is a single mum, trying to make ends meet by working as a dancer whilst also being a good role model to her son, Dominic. Supported by her sister, Sheila, she is able to go off to work knowing that her son is cared for and this allows her to concentrate on bringing in what money she can at the club, where she works alongside her friend, Olive.

'The Testaments' Analysis: Intro, Chapters 1-3
I know my Handmaid's Tale analysis isn't finished, but I thought I would jump right into The Testaments since the Hulu adaptation is well underway. Obviously, the show and novel have different continuities. The Testaments is understood to take place 15 years after The Handmaid's Tale's (novel) ending. It does not feature the same protagonist, but rather tells the story from three different viewpoints.

Unlock the Audiobook Goldmine: How AI is Democratizing Audio Content Creation (And How You Can Benefit)
The hum of a captivating narrator, the immersion of a story unfolding without glancing at a page – audiobooks aren't just convenient; they're a cultural phenomenon. Did you know that over 50% of Americans now listen to audiobooks? Globally, billions are tuning in, driving an industry already worth billions and projected to explode sixfold by 2030. But for years, breaking into this lucrative market felt like scaling a fortress guarded by giants like Audible, with their hefty 75-80% commission cuts and complex production barriers. Writing, narrating, editing, marketing – the traditional path required thousands of dollars and months of effort, often ending in disappointment.

I Quit My Six-Figure Job to Work at a Bookstore
I Quit My Six-Figure Job to Work at a Bookstore. I've Never Been Richer. When I walked into my boss's office and handed in my resignation, I could feel the weight of the decision pressing down on me. I was leaving a six-figure salary, benefits, and a career path that many would envy. On paper, I had everything most people strive for—success, financial security, the approval of my peers. But inside, I felt empty. And the thing that most people didn’t know, or understand, was that I had come to hate what I did.

Romance in the Trenches
So, I used to work at my local branch of Half Price Books (a.k.a real happiest place on Earth). And while I was there, I was surprised by the exploding popularity of one book in particular. While the number of inquiries about Kristin Hannah’s The Women (2024) genuinely impressed me, it didn’t intrigue me enough at the time to want to read it. The only thing I knew for sure about the author is that she's a well-seasoned female-writer. That was it. But backed up by good reviews, from both critics and readers, it was a title I thought would be worth filing away for later - if I ever got the chance to really enjoy reading again.
