At the door he stopped and turned to John, speaking softly in Chinese with what could be only described as malice in his eyes, before exiting the room. Robert didn’t understand what the guy said but, by the look in John’s eyes, he could see that it was obviously a threat of some kind.

Lambda found himself standing at the edge of the canal, peering through the dense shrubbery that obscured his view of the bustling supermarket lights. The pathway leading to the road was dimly lit, and the adjacent children's play area, now devoid of life, cast an eerie shadow. With no one in sight, Lambda's adventurous spirit took over, compelling him to leap over the six-foot fence, landing on the desolate roundabout.
