Nature’s Neglect

What have we become?

In this blueish light of the evening, where everything fades into mindless oblivion, the day concludes to an end with a shine of a pale moon light, and it brings a sense of closure and calmness mankind can't describe. It's the type of calmness with an underscore of disappointment, knowing that one day of your life has passed, despite the many yet to come. We brace the sleep and the cradle of our pillows against our strained neck, but yet some yield a heavy heart, so heavy it weighs down the priority of sleep. It's in these evenings, that I find comfort and closure, where all problems cease to exist. As I step out to my balcony, my bare feet reaching for the familiar sense of the cool tiles, a strong wind envelops around me and intertwines itself all throughout my clothing. It feels magical, healing almost, like a wash by nature, like a bath without actually getting wet. The cool evening wind lapses around my arms and legs, hitting my face like a splash of cold water, washing away the day's grime and happenings, refreshing me with a clean slate. It feels absolutely amazing, a feeling that has to be experienced, indescribable through words. So go relish yourself in nature's bath, feel, experience it, desire it. But note to do it at the end of the day, where your muscles and mind are laden by the day's events, where all you might need, is natures cool, dry, bath.

After all, god only provided us with the force and power of nature. He birthed us into this strange new world where he knew that he had already created and prepared everything that we needed for lungs to never stop breathing and hearts to never stop beating. Embrace it, before the creations of spoiled, unnaturally intelligent minds tarnish it with their

unworthiest, and unnecessary creations, where nothing is served except its sole purpose of sucking your very life away. Experience what god has given you, appreciate and embrace it.

It's getting dark and the glow of the screen hurts my eyes, but god never intended to hurt, so this very iPad, was obviously not created by him. It was created by us, to destroy us.

Ironic.

So go out and enjoy the warm glow of the setting sun. Don't bask in the unnatural light of the blinding screen. It harms your eyes and hurts your soul. It’s a distraction from the cradle of nature we naturally crave.

We scroll on our phones on and on, only to feel the same before and after, if not a little worse. We open instagram, tik tok, or any other app that promises false happiness and blissful distraction. But it only does more harm than good.

Whereas, if we take a walk, walk our dog, or literally try any outdoorsy activity, we will feel the comfort of nature, the embrace of the wind, the startling green that soothes our strained eyes. Tear your eyes away from that screen, look out your window and appreciate something bigger than that small, insignificant rectangle in your hands. Appreciate the living green masses, the glowing sun, the soft howl of the wind through a creek in your door. Exist in something more alive than a mere electricity-reliant item. Maybe then, your heart will fill truly with happiness, gratitude, and calmness it desperately tried to find in your phone.

So you should stop waiting for that text, stop scrolling down those reels, stop looking looking for joy in others’ lives as if it is your own, stop obsessing over that celebrity, stop trying to get that impossible high score on a game you can’t stop playing, stop thinking that after one more scroll, enough time will pass for all your troubles to solve on its own.

Rip off that band-aid, that only adds more salt to your wounds. Put down that phone, that only does more harm than good. Take one step out, and begin your healing journey. Submit yourself to the call of nature, let your feet sink into the earthly soil, the smooth, soft grass, as the sun warms your cheeks and the wind cools your sweat. A phone could never bring this type of joy. Trust me, i’ve tried.
