What It's Like Going Back to College in Your 20s
Have you heard someone say, "it's too late for me to go back to college, I'm too old now?" I've heard this plenty of times, usually accompanied by, "which is why I want you to go back to school." Trust me, I get it. It's scary watching someone do something you did that you now regret and wish you could change, so naturally you want to help that person not make your same mistakes. But, here's the thing: we're not the same people. Who's to say that if I never set foot in another college I'd end up as a nobody at a dead-end job? Once summer hit the time flew by, and before I knew it I was moving into my first home away from my family. Little side note, I am super close with my family so this transition was HARD. Welcome to College!
Starting a new school can always be difficult, but there's something about starting college that is infinitely more terrifying. It's often your first time living on your own, you're living in a new place, and there is much more freedom to choose. At least, that's what I thought going into college. The truth isn't quite what I thought it was. I should preface this, however, with the fact that I am going to city college currently and plan on transferring to a four year school later, so some things may be slightly different than for university students. Still, many things will hold true for both city college and university students.
