The Student Teacher
The Student Teacher Mr Stock, my English teacher, turned to me and said “Cynthia, you’re in charge of them for the rest of class. I have to go to this meeting.” He said as he frantically gathered all of the papers he needed into his bag. Me? Being in charge of these people? Oh boy do I feel bad for them. “Yup, I’ll be sure to keep them in line, no worries.” I said nodding and agreeing to be the “teacher” for the block. All we had to do was work on presentations due in 2 days, which is on Friday. Which made me think, “It shouldn’t be that hard, right? Just tell them to work on their presentations and that’s the end of that”. I was very wrong. The second the door closed behind Mr Stock and he had left, all hell broke loose. These people, who are high school seniors and juniors, started acting like they were back in grade school. Papers were flying, pencils were being thrown and one almost landed right in a girl’s eye. A hard, heavy base ball flew right past me and shattered a window. Music with disgusting and ungodly noises was blasting in the room. I stood there flabbergasted, grinding my teeth so hard that my jaw started to hurt. I was so pissed off, I felt like I was walking through fire. I was in disbelief that this was happening then I realized, I was going to have the backlash of this whole disaster. I was the one who was going to get yelled at for all of this since I’m the one who’s supposed to be in charge of the class. Nope, that’s not going to happen. Not on my watch. I pushed all of the notebooks, pencils off my desk as I then gently set my MacBook on my chair since I didn’t want to break that. I get on the desk and scream, “STOP right now! Turn that music down, it’s vulgar! Disgusting! Get rid of that, right now.” The boys who were blasting the music immediately looked up like a deer in headlights and threw their stereo out the window to get rid of it completely. “Now let me ask you, girls, how your grades look. Do you have a passing grade in this class?” I ask a group of girls who were in a corner watching DIY’s on YouTube. The girls look at me with fear written all over their faces, until one got the courage to speak up. “No...I have a 68.” The girl said as her face turned red as a tomato. She also had the look of, “Please don’t hurt me.” I roll my eyes as I stand there on the desk with my arms crossed. “Then what the hell are you doing watching DIY videos on YouTube? GET TO WORK! And whoever’s throwing things, cut the crap and act your maturity level.” I said before I shook my head, getting down from the desk. I couldn’t help but mutter to myself, “Jesus Christ, these people are complete idiots.” Everyone seemed to shut up now, never saw a bunch of people look so scared in my life.

Independent Studying
The methods of how education is delivered, change. Usually, some of the ordinary learning methods are altered. Education provided me with the tools to be able to construct ideas in a way that solves problems. Allowing expression, and a way to understand how money is rewarded to those that solve a problem. Without knowledge, and an effort to make a change, this education would be useless.
