A(rcher) for Effort
I let loose the final arrow from my quiver as the first of the tears began to fall down my cheeks. I knew that there would be no disruptions out here this late at night, that I’d be able to shoot in peace, but I forgot that then my brain would have time to think. The final arrow joined the rest of the others in the grass, just short of the target. I stared at the pristine target in the moonlight and crumpled to the ground, careful of my bow.

Stretching against it, waving hope in the inky ether. There are so many - this one flawed, another larger, a few jewel-perfect.

dense wood, rocks, and seashells
Frayed rope holding chunks of dense wood, rocks, and seashells knock together. The wind reminds me of her… My teeth tear through flesh and my mind skips a beat... I offer her some… Fire fills the cabin, my mind fills with panic. I run for the door but there he is, blocking me. I shout with smoke in my lungs masquerading as oxygen.
