My Story
Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Susan. I'm a 19 year old girl who is currently living in the Holy City. I was born November 27, 1997 on a Thanksgiving morning. I'm adopted into a wonderful family and I'm one of seven kids. I'm here to tell you my story of me finding my place in the world and the struggles it took me to get where I am right now. Finding Time to Walk Away
You ever get that gut-wrenching feeling? You know, the one that is telling you it is over... Why do we continue to fight and stay when we are so unhappy? I find myself asking myself this question daily. I probably fight more times with my husband in a week than I can count, and yet I fight to stay. I have been married before and I walked away, and back then it was easy. I was done trying to fight, yet that girl who was able to pick up her life and start over seems to be missing. She is NOWHERE to be found. Hell, even my dreams have become a nightmarish tale of divorce, cheating, and scandal all orchestrated by my husband's self-destruction.

All It Takes
Early August 2016. The same day I lost faux-love, I found the real thing. I spent four years in a relationship with a guy I fell for my senior year. He taught me how to stand up to one of my fears, and expanded many of my horizons, as I was a very sheltered child. Long story short, we dated four long, strenuous years. A lot was said, and one thing led to another and I was giving him the key to his apartment back saying, "We're done!"

The Art of Long Distance
Growing up, I never really believed in true love. I always wanted to, I mean, what little girl doesn't want their knight in shining armor to save them from the grand evils of the world? But, it was never a realistic goal for me. My dad abandoned my family when I was four and my mom divorced him when I was ten, so "true love" seemed like a fabricated lie that was only found in movies and the suburbs.

It's Hard to Be Me
When I was three-years-old, my mom bought me a beautiful pink princess dress to dress in for Halloween. I fell in love with that dress and felt so beautiful in it. I remember how confident I felt walking up to people's doors and asking them for candy. I just knew no one would be able to refuse giving candy to such a pretty girl.

The Unexpected
Let me tell you a story about my ex and I. Him and I were together for a pretty long time, on and off mostly, and to be honest, I was definitely in love with him. There was this one time I was at my friends house, and everything was going fine, but then my (ex) boyfriend stop replying to my texts and started to ignore me. I tell my friend to text him and to see if he's busy, or if he's just ignoring me. Well, turns out he was definitely ignoring me. So I text him saying that I know he's ignoring me and that he NEEDS to talk to me since obviously we're in a relationship. Next thing I know, he breaks up with me. Days past and I found out he had actually been cheating on me. I was devastated for days, I could barely get out of bed. After a week or two, I started to feel a little better, but I was definitely a different person. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd, doing stupid things that I shouldn't have been doing. I ended up getting with a guy who I knew I should not have been with. He defiantly got me into some trouble. I was not the little innocent girl I used to be. After about three months, I decided to text my ex because I was so depressed and mad at everyone, so I sent him a message that said, he'd promise to never cheat or break up with me, and I take promises serious. We ended up getting into an argument, which made me feel even worse about myself, but I felt like I needed to confront him about what he has done to me and how he ruined me and how he promised all these things. A few days later, he had texted me asking if I wanted to hangout with him, I of course said no because I was still very mad about what had happened the other night, and I thought 'why the hell would he be inviting me to hangout after we had just got in a fight not even two days ago', but one of my friends texted me and convinced me to go. So I went, I was very nervous and also very agitated. But I don't regret going, because he had brought a friend with me and his friend turned out to be the love of my life and I never expected it.

The Thunderstorm
I never liked thunderstorms. They have always brought loud noises and memories of my father yelling at my mother and the smell of liquor filled breath. As the individual raindrops pitter-patter on the roof, my boyfriend wraps his arms around me. My head is tucked in the crook of his neck, and the first strike of lightning hits. As the thunder roars, his arms get tighter and I duck further into his neck.

Abusing Love
Virtually and in reality I've seen (what it seems to ME) couples claiming to know what love is and believing that they represent the ideal relationship. Posting a video or picture of two people kissing or of other actions that almost every other couple has done on a basis is not a real representation of love (in my opinion). Anyone can "show off" their girlfriend or boyfriend on Instagram, Snapchat or even Twitter or send cute texts to one another, then screenshot and post it so other people will applaud you for finding "love." Which leads me to my next topic: What do I think Love is? Love is the feeling you get that the person in front of you is the one whom you were destined for. When you experience true love, you will be willing to do anything for that person to just smile, and that person the same. Every worry in your life just floats away, and all you want to do is spend time with that person, help them with their goals, and show them your deepest thoughts and feelings.

Ex-Alt-Delete
Uncomfortable. Bold. Salty. These are three words to describe having sex with a person for the first time. You guys are finally alone, and although in your fantasy of this moment you had a lot to talk about with this person, suddenly you're speechless. The silence is so awkward that it becomes deafening, not to mention, if you tend to be anxious like me, your hands are probably all hot and sweaty, and yet in the same instance, you can't wait to touch who you hope to become future bae, or maybe it’s simply a booty call. I don't judge.
