Allow me to get started with what you see in my profile photo. Yes, I have a girlfriend and we are a little more than 16 months in. All you need to know about her is that she's right for me. She has wonderful heart, a beautiful face, and a great sense of humor. What more could I have asked for?

Not Quite the Blind Date I'd Expected
I didn't want to go in the first place. But my best friend, Sandra begged and pleaded until I felt I couldn't say no. Her boyfriend's best friend had split up with his long-term girlfriend. She wanted me to go on a double date to help cheer this friend up. I'd be doing them all a big favour. It would be fun. I'd enjoy it. He was such a nice guy. And so she went on, until in the end I gave in and agreed to go.

What's Love Got to Do with It?
Just like almost every other googly-eyed girl out there, I think the world of my boyfriend. He's smart (book-smart that is...his lack of common sense is what makes me laugh the most in our relationship), he's super motivated, he's adorable, and I even love his natural smell more than any cologne that has ever existed. But most of all, he's obsessed with me (in a good way) and that's what keeps me around. He always tells me he loves me, tells me that all of my stupid, little quirks are cute, tells me that I look so much better without make up and that I should wear my glasses more often because he thinks they're adorable.

I Cheated
You know that person that everyone despises? The person with a perfect, or so it seems, life partner, but despite that, they still choose to cheat? Well I was that person, or I guess I am that person. I cheated on my boyfriend, which I’ve known and shared a relationship with for years. I won’t give specifics, but I did it. I cheated, and it wasn’t like you see on tv or in movies at all.

Summer of Confusion
Late last year was an eventful time. I moved to Wilmington, NC from NYC (huge transition)! My childhood friend, who also is originally from New York, moved down there back in May, loved it, and suggested I come visit her. Meanwhile my last job ended in April, and nothing else was coming through. In addition, family problems were increasing and so I obviously was undergoing major stress. With that said, I figured why not? What have I got to lose? So I did pack up, took a bus and ended up staying with my friend in her two bedroom apartment. It was going OK for a while, but again, still no real job opportunities were coming and she needed my help paying the rent... oh boy!!

Strangers
I was 16, scrolling on Facebook, when a message pops up from some boy I never met or saw before. I thought he was the cutest and was so nervous about if I should talk to him or not. I eventually responded to him and we talked for hours. He was one year older than me and lived in a totally different state. His personality was just like mine: He was funny, cute, and a great listener. We talked for a few months before I told my closest best friend about him. She thought I was crazy for talking to someone I never met before. The thought crossed my mind over and over that what if he was actually an old man or someone just being creepy. But then I would talk to him and I felt safe and at such a young age; I felt in love.

5 (Popular) Forms of Non-Monogamy
It seems nowadays everything is a trend. Perhaps it's another symptom of living in the technology age. Maybe it's caused by the whole world breaking free of the current paradigm. Whatever it is, we (as a people) are generally free to explore and live our best lives, and we've included love.
