Interracial Dating (From a Black Woman's Perspective)
Ever since I was a little girl, I always had this enthrallment with white men. Of course, when I was younger, it was little caucasian boys. Don’t ask me why, but that fascination grew as I got older. Being thoroughly attracted to white men could be rough at times. Where I live, there are white men on every corner. However, I grew up in a school where there were probably only nine black kids. Lots of the guys at school were super interested in fucking black girls on the low. In public, though, that was a big no no. I dated one guy from my school publicly and was given a tough time about it. His friends that were girls would make up outrageous lies: “your girlfriend called me a cracker,” “she flirts with other people,” etc. They would do their normal bullying and it was honestly super pathetic. I dated another guy on the low; however, he was a little older than me. I was still in middle school and he was in high school. He was one of the "popular" boys. His excuse as to why we couldn’t go public was he didn’t want to be viewed as a “sex offender.” He was just three years older than me. Our age differences were not uncommon in a lot of the couples that went to our school. Loads of times it has always been every excuse in the book. In fact, in my adult life, I have only dated one man whose family was super okay with me being black. His whole family embraced me. It was probably the best relationship I had been in. We ended up splitting because he wasn’t ready for his friends to know he was knocking boots with a black girl. It crushed me because we had been through so much. He met my friends, family, and I had been there for him when his mother passed away. While my love for white guys still stands, it hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride. Here I am still single as shit and probably staying that way for a while. Today I wanted to share a few things with you about what I have experienced during my time exploring interracial dating. Fasten your seat belts, kids. It's about to get crazy around here!

What I Always Wanted
Coming out of a bad relationship can be really hard. You're ready to put up that wall again and not let anyone near it. I was more than ready to give up on love at this point. I had two wonderful children. They were the light in the darkness of it all. The very reason for my hoping and wishing that he'd do right by us. All of my efforts were useless; everyone reaches a breaking point. With the help of a good friend I decided to do what was best and left him. That is exactly when my life changed for the better. I was finally happy, finally getting back to being the real me. The woman who knows her worth and won't settle for less than what she deserves. It certainly was a beautiful rebirth. There's a local grocery store in my hometown. It's a small town and this is the one and only grocery store that's close enough to be convenient. So naturally, my family and I would shop there often. I had been on many trips to the store with my uncle. Now, my uncle is openly gay, so we definitely have to scope out all the guys, haha. So, for about a month, any time we'd go to the store he always had to mention this one cutie that worked the cash register. He was definitely cute, not that I would admit it. He was around 5'3, green eyes, dark hair, medium length with a full beard and the cutest little nose. My uncle ranted and raved over this boy obsessively. I had only commented that I didn't think he was that cute and I didn't even like beards. Yet I always avoided his line when we went shopping. Why? I don't really know. All I know is the one time I did go through his line I was too nervous to even look up at him. OK, so I suppose I thought he was pretty damn cute too.

Love Is Strange
I was 18 when I met the love of my life. But, he wasn’t really the love of my life.,. to the naked eye he seemed perfect, quite, sweet, funny, loyal. What he lacked was devotion, dedication, true commitment. This story isn’t about him though. This story isn’t about my first love, it’s about my last love.

Spanish Rendezvous
The season was summer, the country was Spain, and the experience was unforgettable! I embarked on a trip to Barcelona with a study abroad group. Nervous, shy, and cautious were my only companions on the plane. We were to meet at famous landmark, Plaza Catalunya. Timidly, I entered the plaza at high noon. The sun blazed down, making me sweat uncontrollably. “Deep breath in and out!” During professor’s announcements, I anxiously scanned the group. I was a bundle of nerves, as I realized I knew no one. I worried about being a loner. I prayed that I would click with my roommate. Hot and uncomfortable; turmoil settled in the pit of my stomach.

Top 5 Reasons Why Relationships Fail
#5. Different Lifestyles Having similar interests is the glue that holds a couple together. Whether it’s working out at the gym, going out to the movies, or even doing outdoor activities. Whenever two people are having fun doing the same thing it’s really easy for them to form and keep a connection going. This connection will eventually become the bond that binds them for a long time. Couples with different lifestyles will have a lot of friction in the relationship which can lead to loss of interest in each other or even infidelity.
