friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
Why Does Small Talk Become More Difficult with Age?
This Reddit post from a woman in her 30’s laments that she can no longer tolerate small talk, even though she excelled at it in her 20’s. She finds it boring and lacking in substance. Is this normal? Yes, in fact, a lot of commenters agree:

You Should Stop Trying to Be a Better Person . Top Story - March 2026.
A year ago, I spent two days in the Colombian mountains drinking ayahuasca as part of a spiritual ceremony. An experience that pulled apart every detail of my being and rearranged me in a new sequence. I wish that life became easier after the feat. It didn’t.

Against My Better Judgment: I Let My Dentist Talk Me Into Invisalign at 50
Against my better judgment, I got Invisalign at 50. I was reminded of this decision last Tuesday when my coworkers brought baked goods to a meeting. Carbohydrates are my weakness, and the taste of fresh baked sourdough bread and donuts would certainly get this meeting off to a great start. I then remembered the two pieces of plastic gripping tightly to my teeth. I remembered how difficult these pieces of plastic were to remove and how awkward it would be to stick my hands in my mouth to remove said pieces of plastic in a conference room filled with coworkers.

Situationship Communication Rules Help Avoid Emotional Misunderstandings And Frustration
The concept of relationships is becoming prevalent in contemporary dating in the form of relationships, which are in between friendship and a relationship. These dynamics are usually emotional intimacy, experiences together and even physical intimacy but are not clearly defined. In the absence of labels, the relationship can be perceived by individuals in a different way and create confusion. This is the reason why communication is necessary. In contrast to the traditional relationships where the expectations are usually implied, situationships demand active conversations to achieve the clarity and mutual understanding at the very outset.

Take a Picture
I joined an online Trauma recovery group for women. I was reading a young ladies post and had a flashback that took me way back. Way back to a time I thought was long forgotten. It was obviously still fresh inside me. I thought to respond with what I learned from it. Hoping to help. Maybe do something positive with something so negative from my past. The girl writing was talking about something very familiar to a lot of victims who often end up going back to their abusers. Sometimes, several times, and for various reasons. I could go on forever about the various reasons victims of abuse go back to their abusers, but I want to write about one today because this young ladies’ post triggered me to do what I refer to from time to time as “Time Travelling.”

The Weight of Goodbye
I remember that run as if it were only an hour ago. My dad had just passed away from Alzheimer’s. Walking into Mum’s house and seeing him lying there, I felt a tangle of confusion, embarrassment, and anger. I knew this day was coming, but it still managed to catch me off guard. Only the day before, I’d listened to him talking about his Navy days, his memory for the past always sharp, the present not so much. As I was about to leave, he stared at me, a long, unsettling look, as if he already knew he was on his way out. That moment is etched in my mind. I forced a cheerful goodbye.

The Last Conversation I Never Knew Was the Last
It was an ordinary evening—so ordinary that I almost forgot it ever mattered. The sun was setting, painting the sky in soft shades of orange and pink. I was tired after a long day and just wanted to relax. My phone buzzed, and I saw their name on the screen.

The Day Reality Didn’t Feel Real
It started like any other day. I woke up to the sound of my alarm, reached for my phone, and turned it off without even opening my eyes. The room felt the same. The light coming through the window looked normal. Nothing seemed out of place.
