They Come to Snuff the Rooster Santana
This is the story of Santana the Rooster’s triumph. It is not the greatest story I could tell or the most dangerous. It is not the only time I have faced death in my life. Some of the old timers that I attended school with as a boy do not believe it ever took place. But my cousin Tito and I still remember it clearly. Maybe because it is an event that only our young minds could have conceived of, or maybe because it was our first time facing death together, whatever the reason this is how it happened.

Women Wanna Heist Too
Women want to commit crimes too, and no we don't need a man to convince us to do it. I was listening to Dane Cook the other day at work, and on one track his 'Heist/Monkey' bit came up. He talks about how one girl says that all men want is sex, and he says nay. Men also want to be art of a heist and have a pet monkey.

An Ode to Cake
While watching "Most Ridiculous" with my preteen daughter recently they played a video of a small group of people singing "Happy Birthday" to a little boy. He didn't seem very enthused and casually flipped over his before they had a chance to finish their song. It looked like something that his poor mother probably stayed up all night baking. I identify with that on a deep spiritual level, because I know exactly how much effort it takes to bake a cake with love. It was a very funny video and I'm sure that it will be a fond memory when he gets older.

I Wish Older People Would Stop Saying This.
Does anyone notice that older generations, especially Boomers, have a saying for something. Its as if these people live as if real life were a television show. In a sense, every other sentence they speak has to be some catchphrase or motto. While most of what older folks say may be funny, at times their words can be infuriating.

The Lady Killer. Top Story - May 2021.
From experience, I can tell you: conceit is a demon. After four years of promiscuity and success in the military, I created this grandiose image of myself. I was dubbed the “Lady Killer” from friends and peers. Never intimidated by women, I often led them from a bar to my place with ease. Comically enough, this confidence would hold no bearing when I pulled the wrong move at the wrong time, leaving me too embarrassed to speak.

Honey, will you till me a garden?
I just wanted my garden tilled. This is not a euphemism. Its not even an elaborate task – I just wanted the small square of ground that I had identified weeks prior, to be broken up so that I could begin establishing my little corner of happiness. Sure, there were other tasks to be accomplished to make my garden whole – but this was the first step.
