If You Think Nobody Cares If You’re Alive , Try Missing A Couple of Car Payments
" If You Think Nobody Cares If You’re Alive , Try Missing A Couple of Car Payments " This quote is from the commencement speech that David Foster Wallace gave at Kenyon College in 2005. I chose this because it speaks about some of the key components of success, namely dreaming big and never giving up. . Wallace also speaks about how success can be found through persistence and dedication. “Success is not something that just happens to people, it is a hard won prize that you have to fight for, something worth striving for.”

Breaking Away.
One morning at the beginning of November, I was scrolling for ten minutes on my Instagram account. I decided that it was sucking away my time and I wanted to give up social media for a while. There were books piling up next to my bed and with NaNoWriMo in full swing and my full time job, I was constantly trying to find enough time to do everything that I want to do. That does not include the things that I need to do for my self care.

Early days of slavery
The battle between slavery and freedom is the most engaging theme in African-American literature and history itself. Every American today possess the right of freedom, however the colonial period in the Old South followed a highly restricted code when it came to freedom, as slavery was at it’s peak during this time. African-American literature became a prevalent aspect during this time due to the controversial dialogue within its letters.

Name Search
My name is Kylecovey Miguel Smith, Graduate of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. My name is made up of 4 individual names that were given to me by my mother and father. My dad gave me the name Kylecovey due to liking the name Kyle, and due to his admiration of the interpreter James Covey, the man for vouched and translated for the captured Mende Africans of the Spanish slave ship, La Amistad, and aided them into being set free in 1839. My mother named me Miguel because she was a big Michael Jackson, but she wanted to give a special touch to the name by using the Spanish version. Therefore, I was assigned the middle name Miguel. My last name Smith was automatically given to me because my dad’s last name is Smith.

If I Were Alive Today (Fredrick Douglass) Frederick Douglass is one of the most iconic abolitionists and orators of the 19th century. He protested and helped changed America’s views of slavery through his actions and personal writings. Douglass is well known for his autobiographies detailing his childhood as a slave to being educated by the wife of his master Hugh Auld to his escape from slavery. All of which had a strong impact on his writings. The oratory skills he executed left the biggest influence on Civil War Era literature.

Re: Writing My Goals
I'm starting over as a writer. With 40 just around the corner, that's no small thing. I first decided writing was for me in high school when I was 16. At the time, I had some absurdly high ambitions for fixing the world and saving humanity from itself because I was young and didn’t know any better. As I continued to succeed academically, these ambitions worked their way into the fabric of my being. This is a story I’ve mentioned elsewhere, so I bring it up again for only one point: my writing was part of that Atlas burden. So I’m starting over as a writer in order to move away from that obsession with the capital-I Important.
