In November 1919, at the age of 36, Kafka wrote a lengthy letter - "To My Father" - to his father, Hermann Kafka, who was then 67 years old. The letter was more than 100 pages long and dissected in detail the painful and strained relationship between their father and son. He entrusted his mother to deliver the letter to his father, but his mother read the letter and sent it back.
