My First Spartan Race
It was the 17th of November in 2018, when I first joined Spartan Race in Bright, Victoria. The event was the weekend Trifecta race, which means all categories were happening (Sprint, Super, Beast, Ultra, and Hurricane Heat). Since it was my first obstacle race ever, I tested the water by signing up on Sprint category. The 8km obstacle race sounded do-able for me that time, as I also just got back to fitness a month or two then.

The Best Things About Running Cross Country
If you would have approached me ten years ago and told me that I was going to be a cross country runner in high school and fall in love with distance running for the rest of my life, I would have straight up laughed in your face. The Man Most Unlikely to Be an Athlete… at 58
Working in the senior care field, I am often pleasantly surprised by the energy and verve I see in my aging friends who are 30 and even 40 years older than me. I, too, hope that I will break down the myths of aging when I reach my 80s and beyond, and today, it is far more likely than I would have imagined 10 years ago.

Casual Training Into My 40s
I've never been the most athletic person. I mostly played video games and watched TV during my childhood. During high school I was a chubby teenager. In my early 20s I finally discovered bboying (breakdancing). That was what got me to train my body to become stronger. It wasn't until I got into my 30s that I started to train smarter. Of course, I hit obstacles throughout the different stages in my life and as my body evolved.
