My Scare With Death
You never know where life will take you or what would happen the next day as the days ahead are never promised. Christmas Eve 2001 started like any normal day, full of joy for the next day and busy getting last minute things done for Christmas. I still had some presents to wrap so I decided to go to my room and wrap the rest and bring them upstairs. I proceeded to go to the basement and walked downstairs, knowing fully that the light was burned out, so I crept carefully down the stairs to my bedroom and went to step down and suddenly felt a sharp pain in my right foot and the gushing feeling of something wet. I hopped to my room, turned on the light, and saw a piece of metal sticking out of my foot. I went and sat on my bed, pulled the piece of metal out, and cleaned my foot like nothing had happened because after all, I wasn't going to the hospital on Christmas Eve.

Healthy at My Size
I’ve written previously on the extremely delicate issue of Thin Privilege. Well, I didn’t get too much hate for that, so I’m giving it another go! In the news recently, we heard that Gigi Hadid had received comments about her being “too thin.” In her response to the haters, she revealed that she’s undergone a noticeable change in weight due to treatment for a thyroid condition. She shouldn’t have had to justify her existence in the first place, let alone divulge personal medical information, but I suppose it’s done something to educate the public about the condition. Most younger people won’t know that much about it, as it doesn’t tend to affect young people.

Sugar Addiction
Cravings are hard to deal with. Sugar craving is quite common for many people, not just type 1 diabetics. Alcohol is similar to sugar as it is a fermented form of sugar. Alcoholics are also sugar junkies. One way of curbing a sugar craving is to drink water or broth made of chicken or beef. Sugar cravings can go away eventually, in particular, if you know you have had enough. If water can help release a sugar craving, it is because you were just thirsty. Also, sugar cravings can be helped with eating more meat if you are not vegetarian.

Vaping, It's a Life Saver
I used to smoke. A lot. I was up to a pack a day, sometimes a pack and a half. This added up very quickly at $7 a pack. My husband and I had kicked around the idea of vaping for a while now. But the initial purchase is usually the most expensive. We opted to get the Smok V8 sticks, as they were easy to use and maintain. Than we got our juices. He started out at a 3mg nicotine level, and I a 6mg level. Considering the average cigarette has 18mg of nicotine in it, I figured 6 was an ok level to begin with. We had vaped on these for a few months, trying different flavors of juices. It's amazing how many there are. And to think that we're getting our nicotine fixes without all the extra chemicals that are added. I had done all the research online, and am learning more about it every day. There's more studies out now that show that vaping is much more healthier than smoking. And even though there's varying studies on the long term effects, most sites say there isn't enough data yet to determine if there's any harmful effects.

How To Deal with Tinnitus
For the past twenty years or so, I have suffered from Tinnitus. This constant ringing in my right ear is part of my day. I can hear it when I wake up and it does not stop until I am sound asleep at night. Just trying to get to sleep is a great feat because of it.

My Future With T1D
So, recap of the last note, I was diagnosed with Type one Diabetes (T1D). I went to Hawaii, had a blast, and took good care of myself. I took care of myself and kept up with everything for the rest of this and next school year and graduated high school. That's when it all went downhill.
