Overcoming Obstacles & Redefining Failure
I am a person who has embarked on several new beginnings in my life. I have moved to new cities, taken on challenging jobs, completed university, and fallen in love. One thing I have recognized is that during every one of my achievements I have been burdened with many obstacles. Like, things that should go smoothly, and otherwise should have been simple. But then they drag on, and I must decide “Is this a sign I should stop?” or “Is this a test?”

Improving Yourself at Work and in Your Personal Life
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I am a United States Marine on his lunch break and thought I would share some tips and advice I've picked up during my life. I see a lot of brand new marines, "Boots," as we call them come to the motor pool each week. They tend to do one of two things, neither of which is helpful to anyone. They either run and hide trying not to be noticed; in which case they come back the next day able to contribute nothing more than the day before; or they continuously get in the way of someone trying to do their job. There is healthy in between, however, it seems to be hard for the average person to grasp. Here's a few tips to not only be a better help but to make your day goes as smoothly as possible with the minimum amount of ass-chewings.

Navigating Young Adulthood with No Parental Guidance
When you're a kid, the phrase "Mother knows best" usually means that you have to do something that your mother wants you to do or not do something that your mother thinks you shouldn't be doing. While when you're young, "Mother knows best" usually means you just lost a fight, this phrase can bring immense comfort and relief to those same kids when they begin the journey into young adulthood. Many of my friends also in their early 20s use their parents as a lifeline for what to do for a job interview, when you go to the doctor by yourself, how to not turn all of your clothes pink in the washer, easy recipes to make, and some even see their parents as a 24-hour-ATM. BUT, if you're reading this, I'm sure you know that we are not all blessed with loving, supportive parents that show you how to adult. That's why I've put together some tips and resources that I've found helpful for learning how to navigate young adulthood with no parental guidance. I hope that this helps someone through this very difficult transition, and even though it isn't the traditional way to grow up, you're not alone, and you can still accomplish all of your goals while creating a life that you enjoy living.

Why I Make Art
Art has always been very special to me throughout the years of growing up. It has shaped me into the person I am today and has helped me overcome many struggles throughout my years. I make art because it gave me confidence, it became therapy for me, it helped me to go into the zone, it helped me concentrate, and it showed me what I was capable of creating. These are many of the reasons why I make art.

Pain as a Fuel for the Evolution
“There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” — Carl G. Jung

The Battle
Another word for battle is conflict. I really don't like it and I have been doing my best to avoid it as much as possible. Depending on how well or how long you've known me, you may question that opening statement. I say that because of my feisty personality. But the reason I was so feisty is because I was small and if I didn't stand up for myself, I would get overlooked or pushed over. I may not like conflict but I didn't run from it either.

There Is No Competition
I remember being younger and just knowing I was different. I remember sometimes comparing myself to other people and wondering why I couldn't find more common ground. At one point or another in life we all go through it. We look for comforting comparisons rather than embracing our own uniqueness.
