Hey Little Girl
Hello again to everyone here. I’ve been on a hiatus that lasted way too long. What the hell happened, I’ve asked myself? A lot of people have written about despair in the face of the war in the Ukraine and the multiple harbingers of climate disaster staring us down. I felt paralysed by the constant updates on these large scale calamities, and at a small scale level I was also busy with work (numbers of despairing children and teenagers are proportional to the level of community Weltschmerz — plus they feel the shock of televised war and the threat of climate change the most). There had been a lull in appointments over the Australian summer — warm weather and the long school holidays always seem to produce a land-of-the-lotus-eaters effect: it’s always afternoon, and there’s little to no motivation to get back to normal life. Then suddenly the school year started and the trickle of appointments became a torrent, and I spurred myself on with “Hey, this is not too bad, at least we’re not in lockdown.”

The Passing of A Dear Friend
I just wanted to say something real quick for anyone willing to read a bit... So back at my old house (I don't call it a home because it wasn't) I had two cats. A white/grey cat that I named after the famous Marvel villain Loki. He got his name because when I met him, he immediately slapped me in the face with his tiny paw. The black cat was named Lightning Bolt (I was 8yrs old when I received him as a Xmas present. Believe it or not I was actually asking for a pet dog at the time, but upon my deceased aunt's porch was this little black cat they decided was going to be my Xmas present. At the time the movie Smurfs was out and so my mindset was "I'll name him based on characteristic or a trait" (one or the other).

She hides in the corner, encased in her soft igloo, her safe haven. She'll probably stay huddled inside until the visitors have left, the lights have been dimmed, and the staff has gone home. She'll only dare to move after that, racing out of her igloo and directly to her food and water bowls.
