cat
It's been said that people that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life.
ITTY BITTY KITTY
I returned home one afternoon from running errands only to find sitting on my doormat the most bedraggled kitten I had ever seen. He was a reddish brown color (?), weak and feeble to point out his finer features. I looked around the yard only to find a feral momma sitting watching me intently. Dont worry about your baby, I told her. I will take good care of him. I scooped him up and hurried inside.

Roxie the raccoon who was really a “cat.”
Yup that is how I was introduced to this furball, the box read RACOON, I was so excited and sad at the same time. See a few years back I had received a kitten barely a few weeks old, who came to my home and tore the place apart unintentionally on his first day there. Because I thought he had gotten lost under the sink wood plank. He did not but the plank was now broken. Anyway, this is for another day. I had to give him up after a year, and so I swore I would never get a pet again, it was too heartbreaking.

Tucha, the crosswalk lady
I don’t have any photos of Tucha, there was a time when photographs weren’t so common, and I was about eight years old when we have met. It was a normal weekend day, we were visiting my great-aunt to spend the day at her Portuguese farmhouse.

Buttons
This is the story of an adult cat that started out as someone’s pet, but then became a stray. He lived for a while on a college campus where many students took pity on him and fed him. At that same college, one of my older sisters was attending, while I was still in high school. She hid him in the closet of her dorm room for two weeks before she was told to find another home for him. At which time, she bought him home to my brother and I, on our hill.

The Value of a Feline Friend
10 years ago she was born. Was it really that long ago? It seems like yesterday I woke up to her mom, going into labor and then, out of a litter of 4, her being the only survivor. She was from the get go, a fighter. Her mom developed crystals in her milk, so wasn't able to nurse her baby. I spent 6 sleepless weeks bottle feeding this precious, newborn, black ball of fluff.

Cheltenham's Halloween
Cheltenham only loved one person in his entire life. He was not cuddly, he did not greet strangers warmly, and he was the only cat I’ve ever known who could convey an incredibly expressive indignance in his frown. This may not seem unusual to you, who probably knows similar cats, but you were not the only person he ever loved. I, and only I, had that incredible privilege.

Our Messed Up Pets
Edgar was our family's second cat. The first cat, Dopey, was still around and trying to get used to sharing the house with a toddler and another cat. Edgar was easy going enough that those things never really mattered, as he regarded the hissing fits with calm ignorance. He was a lover, not a fighter. Everyone was his person. As aggressively antisocial as Dopey was, that is how dedicated Edgar was to spreading warm feelings to all of God's creatures. In time, that would become a problem.

Horus Plays The Guitar
I am delighted to introduce Horus. He came into my life like magic. I never intended to go cat hunting. Our London pad was already filling up with various animalistic ambiences. One looses track at times when one loves animals so much. Gets carried away. The more the merrier. Just one of something you love from the animal kingdom seems rather selfish to me. Personally speaking animals like to have friends.
