Merriam Webster - Word of the day: Tranche refers to a division or portion of a whole. World Contact Day is commemorated every year on March 15. It is a unique observance held globally to focus on communicating with extraterrestrial life and exploring the possibility that intelligent beings may exist beyond Earth. World Contact Day inspires people to invoke their curiosity and spend time thinking about the universe and the mysteries surrounding it. What is the “Ides of March”? According to the Roman calendar, the Ides are a monthly occurrence. In March and other months with 31 days, the Ides always falls on the 15th; it falls on the 13th in months with 30 days. The Ides traditionally marked the arrival of the new Moon and was cause for celebration. The word “Ides” is derived from Latin, meaning “to divide.” Mothering Sunday in 2026 falls on Sunday, March 15. Mothering Sunday, celebrated in the United Kingdom and Ireland, occurs on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter. Unlike the fixed-date Mother's Day in countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia, Mothering Sunday’s date changes each year according to the Christian liturgical calendar. On March 15, 2026, several notable observances and events are celebrated: Dumbstruck Day: A day to express frustration. Everything You Think is Wrong Day: A day to challenge and celebrate wrong beliefs. International Day Against Police Brutality: A day to raise awareness and advocate against police violence. This is something I totally agree with. I mean...I understand people's needs for their constitution's and sensibilities to be protected...and I guess it depends on the genre of a specific piece...but I have always been a bit in two minds about TWs. I put them on my more grisly and uncompromising work because...well I don't want to be an arse and upset the people I like on this platform...particularly as the content is not usually aimed at upsetting or questioning them anyway. Like...if I wrote a horror piece...I would hope people would realise it might be scary, shocking or whatever, so really shouldn't need a TW. If it is a social commentary piece...again...people should expect that it might be confrontational or something. I feel a lot is missing in terms of the impact of a piece when a TW is needed, but at least understand to a degree why they are used. So...while I accept them, I agree, that they can be overused and detrimental... Great job on another great haiku...see how much I wrote in response lol!
This is soooooo true! Always on point as usual! I loved it!
Like your exchange with Ward. I'm not sure about my views on this.
A nice thing to think again and again
I went to a play last night...it had adult content and needed, of course, a warning beforehand that audience members may be "triggered" by its theme(s) , etc. that they might feel strong emotions....sigh. I should hope so.
