Walk Me Home please

Walk me home.

There’s a man behind me,

his steps in sync with mine,

never too fast, never too slow—

just there.

The street is quiet.

Too quiet.

Like it’s waiting for something to happen.

Help Me Please will you ?

I don’t turn around.

I don’t run.

I just keep walking,

heart tight, breath shallow,

keys pressed between my fingers.

Walk me home.

Talk to me.

Make me look like I belong to someone.

Just until he is gone.

Just until I am home.

Believe it or not I felt the fear. Now-a-days no one is particularly safe walking alone. Good job.
