Are Prisons Effective?
To diminish crime, what should we do? Should we throw the criminal in prison so that when they get out, they will think twice before committing another crime? Having criminals in prison keeps them off our streets, which makes society feel safe. But is prison the only solution for preventing crime? Or is there an alternative to it? Research has shown that prison is not effective, as it does not reduce crime, despite placing criminals in prison. It may be that offenders are encouraged to reoffend after finishing their sentence. However, do they reoffend because of what they are surrounded by, more crime? What causes criminals to step forward and end their lives in prison? A tragic trend which has increased in recent years.

Best Soccer Forwards of All Time
No disrespect to any defenders, defensive midfielders, or goalkeepers, as all of those positions are important and necessary to win, but forwards are why we watch soccer. We tune in to watch offensive players score goals, possess unnaturally good ball control, and dribble through defenders, hopefully making them look silly. Throughout soccer history, there have been countless experts in all three of those disciplines but who's the been best? The debate has raged on for decades. Different eras make it hard to properly compare and contrast players, not to mention team strength, playing styles, and competition faced. Taking all of those factors into account, I have picked the ten best soccer forwards to ever play the beautiful game.

The Road Not Taken
It’s rare that a team is able to build itself through the draft and find a bonafide superstar to anchor the franchise. The Seattle Supersonics turned Oklahoma City Thunder were able to find three in as many consecutive drafts from 2007-2009 with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden. The Thunder had the makings of being perennial championship contenders for years to come. They achieved great team success during their time together, including an NBA Finals appearance; the only one in OKC’s franchise history. After their successful 2012 season, Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets after being unable to reach a contract agreement. This was the end for them as a trio, who at one point was walking down the same path of greatness together are now playing on opposing sides, going after the same goal.

Top 10 TED Talks on Donald Trump
Ever since he announced his run for president, Donald Trump has been surrounded by controversy and the media. It seems that every time he says or does anything, it's all that's talked about until he decides to do it again, and then the cycle repeats. His antics have generated intense loyalty from some, while he's become so outlandish to others that some citizens have theorized that Trump may be Donald Duck. There have obviously been other theories and perspectives on the current president from a variety of different people.

'Looks Photoshopped'
"Looks Photoshopped." Two words you see every day on social media (if you frequent any pages or groups that encourage photo sharing). Two words that annoy the hell out of me and probably any photographers/artists/graphic designers who sees them. It's such a nondescript, passive aggressive attack on someone's work and it does nothing but flag up the commenter's inability to understand or constructively address something that is beyond their capability.

Therapy Isn't Selfish
Recently, someone boldly announced that therapy was senseless in that it was simply a time where the patient got to talk about themselves for an hour. They went on to imply that this was a selfish act by saying things like, "If you're a person that needs to pay someone to listen to you talk about yourself for an hour... *shrugs* that just seems weird and unnecessary." I didn't know what to say...so I didn't say anything, and then I felt even worse.

When Your Roommate Has Pets
You may be wondering, "what's wrong with living with animals? Those ones are sooooo cute!" And... You'd be right. They are very cute...and also not mine. I've never had a pet of my own. My family traveled a lot when I was in school and we just didn't have time for a pet, as much as I wanted one. During university, I lived mostly on campus which didn't allow pets until this past year. In September, I moved in with two girls, one who I knew and one who I did not. Both were lovely people who had pets, two of which are pictured here. Now, over my four months there, I learned a lot of things about living with pets, and moreover, living with pets that are not yours. Now there are a lot of pros to having pets. Science has proven that animals help us calm down and reduce stress, however, these adorable hell-spawn tended to cause more stress than I cared to have.

Is the iGen Going to Be a Problem?
In my marriage and family class a couple days ago, we talked about parenting children. I love children! I want my own someday in the near future once I am done with college. What got not only me but my class thinking was this question from my professor: “Do you think that parents are becoming lazy when it comes to handling their own children?” My following question was: Are they really?

'Rampage' Memories
I happened upon this crazy game in an arcade during my youth. I studied this game for a bit, and saw that this game was way different than anything else in the arcade, or on any system for that matter. For one thing, you weren't the hero, but rather, a giant monster. It looked like a King Kong or Godzilla movie, with soldiers shooting at the monsters from the building that were just begging to be leveled. Rampage was definitely a diamond in the rough.
