Most Anticipated Story Lines of the 2018-2019 NBA Season
First Team: 1. The Dawn of the Warrior Dynasty Three chips in four years. That sure sounds like a dynasty, doesn’t it? This is the question the likes of Shannon Sharpe, Stephen A Smith, and Skip Bayless will be debating all season long. The Showtime Lakers won 5 championships in 9 tries between 1980 and 1991. Larry Bird led the Celtics to 3 championships on 5 attempts during the same era, and Bill Russell earned the team 11 rings between ’57 and ’69, losing in the finals only once. The Kobe and Shaq 3-peat spanning from 2000-2002 might be the most compelling reason to hold off on hailing this Warrior team a dynasty, but many will try.

Melo Out in OKC
What was once the most valuable startup in the association, the Oklahoma City Thunder, is now looking shaky as they look to shed their $310 million dollar payroll and luxury taxes after signing Paul George to essentially a $290 million dollar contract. Last summer, Sam Presti looked like a genius after pulling off deals to acquire both Carmelo Anthony and Paul George. The future looked bright in Oklahoma City and they looked to have rebounded from the departure of Kevin Durant a summer ago. That future looks bleak at the moment as they move into the 2018-19 campaign. Still without much of a bench, the roster is top heavy.

43 Years at the Center of Somers Slow Pitch Softball
Almost 40 years ago this summer, a Harlem Globetrotter-like six-man all-star team of windmill softball players arrived to entertain a packed park of Somers Residents. The idea was also to drub whoever the town could put up as players. Little did the California Cuties—in their comedic get up as girls—know they would run up against a 53-year-old founding member of the Somers Softball League. So while the Shenorock resident didn’t get the win, he did earn the last laugh and represents one of many moments as a player, administrator, and manager over 43 years.

Juice Sport
One of my all time favourite fighters in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) has to be Brazilian Royce Gracie. The original 'Ultimate Fighting Championship' happened in 1993 but I was about 23 years old when I first saw it, which was back in 2009. The sport of MMA had came from fringe sport to mainstream attraction by then, but it didn't take away from the magnitude of Royce Gracie's achievements that night in 1993. On the same evening, Gracie had defeated a pro boxer, a shoot fighter, and a kickboxer. Still to this day I am amazed by the fighting prowess of the man, who originally had a submission based style, he only real struck his opponent when he was on the ground. You can probably imagine then how disappointed I was when my hero tested positive for Nandrolone (May 8, 2007) after an Elite XC bout with rival Kazushi Sakuraba.
