The Hour That Grounds Me
Every Saturday at 8am, I join a group of friends on a local field for a game of football. Onlookers would call it a “kickabout,” but it’s something much more deeper and meaningful—an hour of fun, connection, fitness, and joy. For me, it’s the highlight of the week, and I want to share why.

The Importance of Core Strength and Explosive Power Before diving into specific drills, it's important to understand the role of strength and power. Jumping events demand explosive power from your legs, a solid core, and proper technique. Strong legs propel you upward (high jump) or forward (long jump), while a strong core ensures stability during takeoff and landing.

Aaron Rodgers’ Secret Marriage: A Private Life Beyond the Spotlight
In June 2025, one of the most famous quarterbacks in NFL history, Aaron Rodgers, startled both the media and fans by disclosing that he is married. It was revealed informally during a press conference with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team he joined after leaving the New York Jets, rather than through a big announcement or celebrity wedding pictures. The 41-year-old Rodgers identified himself as a “married man” and acknowledged getting married “a couple months ago." His decision to keep it completely secret—so secret, in fact, that his wife's name is still unverified publicly—as well as the news of his marriage shocked many. Aaron Rodgers did not disclose his wife's identity when he was confirmed, but there is a lot of conjecture that she is Brittani, written with a "i," whom Rodgers has referenced in a few interviews over the previous year. When Rodgers casually referenced purchasing a late Christmas present for his girlfriend Brittani on "The Pat McAfee Show," in December 2024, he was implying that their relationship was serious. During his early days with the Steelers in April 2025, he brought her up once more, but he refrained from sharing any more in-depth information about her. Numerous credible media outlets, such as People, The Cut, and The Daily Beast, have suggested that Brittani is the lady he married as a result of the references' consistency. Nevertheless, no images, biographical information, or authenticated social media accounts of Brittani hNevertheless, no images, biographical information, or authenticated social media accounts of Brittani have emerged.

CFL Week 1 Recap: Back in the Saddle
The Canadian Football League has returned! North American football has become quite interesting ever since the instillation of the XFL and USFL, now merged into the UFL, became part of the sports calendar. Pro football is now year-round, with the UFL coming in shortly after the Super Bowl's over. Once the UFL is set to crown their champion, that's when our Canadian brothers-in-arms come in with their larger field, their 12-man defenses, their rouges, and their three-down football. This is my 13th year watching the CFL, my 12th in play--remember, no 2020 season. Hard to believe that it was that long ago that I said to myself, "You know, I need to give this CFL thing a chance."

Terrorsquad Elite AAU Event Had Everything: Young Trio Stars, Zeddy Will, and a Mission
Terror Squad Invitational Recap: Where Hoops Met Hip-Hop and Future Stars Shined by NWO Sparrow I rolled up to the Terror Squad Elite Invitational this past Saturday expecting solid AAU ballgame , but what I got was a full-blown coming-of-age showcase for the next generation. The energy in that gym? Pure NYC electricity. Between the squeaking sneakers, bench hype, and Zeddy Will’s hype, this wasn’t just a tournament — it was a cultural moment. And at the center of it all? The young hoopers who dropped points and left no doubt they’re names to remember: Jayden Barrows , Camm Serrano and Mori Toney.

Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons or my venmo is : @Rich-Monetti On Thursday May 15, John Jay traveled south and took on a tough Horace Greeley team. Nonetheless, the Wolves scored first, and stayed close for most of the first half. But when Jacob Fragin won a 50-50 ball deep in the Greeley zone, he sparked his team the other way, and the play’s outcome officially had Quakers being over their peaceful start

Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below or my venmo is : @Rich-Monetti Mahopac Photos On Friday May 9. John Jay and Mahopac faced each other and the rain on a dreary day. Nonetheless, both teams moved the ball and made some very exciting plays in the first half at Mahopac High School. But neither team scored, and leaving the second half to settle matters, it was a series of big plays that made the difference.

A Look Ahead to Year Four of Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime
As I mentioned before in my piece about this year's Sunday Night Football matchups, I am writing about the 2025 schedule in bits and pieces. The SNF piece was first, and for this installment, it's Thursday Night Football that is the focus. I've watched football since I was seven, and back then, I had been used to NFL games airing on Sundays, Mondays, and some Saturdays. The only Thursday football back then was, of course, Thanksgiving, and it was always two games: a Lions game and a Cowboys game.

A Look at the 1957 Detroit Lions
We are relatively close to another NFL season; the Schedule Release is that last key NFL date during the offseason before the Hall of Fame Game (the first NFL preseason game) starts. This year marks a milestone, as the Super Bowl will turn 60 this season. I had been meaning to do more in-depth looks at NFL championship runs, and the first one I wrote was about the Chicago Cardinals' 1947 run to their most recent championship to date--the longest current championship drought in pro sports.

Somers Falls 24-6 in the Rain
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below or my venmo is : @Rich-Monetti Yorktown Slideshow On Monday May 5, the flag football team traveled to Yorktown and had more than Huskers to contend with. “This weather is really hard to play in,” said Katie DiChiaro in between the raindrops. Still, the Tuskers came out to play and drove all the way down to the Yorktown 11. A little short, they turned the ball over on downs, and Yorktown mostly took it from there.
