A Sitting Duck. Top Story - January 2024. Content Warning.
This story was written for Mackenzie Davis' Ekphrastic Challenge. I’ve got a shotgun tucked into my canoe. It’s not my gun. I hate guns. I borrowed this one from my uncle. He’ll get it back after I blow my brains out.

Hot Buttered Rum
Trying to write a Whodunit for the next Vocal challenge is making me thirsty. So while I struggle to channel my inner Agatha Christie, I wanted to take a minute to introduce you to my new favorite adult beverage for the holidays. Move over eggnog! It’s time to sing the praises of hot buttered rum! It sounds like a granny drink because it is. It's a classic, dating back to the Colonial period. The drink was also very popular in the 1940's.

Classy Car Repairs. Top Story - November 2023.
Last Saturday while loading up some groceries, I noticed that my trunk would not close. It appeared that the latch was broken. But that didn’t stop me from attempting to slam it shut about a dozen times with all my might, hopping up and down on it like a lunatic. There may have been a few tears. My efforts were unsuccessful and my daughter acted as if it was something I’d done on purpose to inconvenience her.

I Made It to 100*. Top Story - November 2023.
This story has been sitting in my drafts for a while. I was nervous about boring people with a clip show of my Vocal portfolio. I've seen many of these Vocal milestone pieces on the platform and I figure, why not? I'll just spice it up with my signature wit and optimism.

There’s only five minutes left.” Grace has to turn off the television to stop her daughter from starting another episode of her favorite cartoon featuring those adolescent mutant reptiles. She lures the girl into the car with the promise that she can pick the restaurant.

Halloween Vibes Starring Vincent Price . Top Story - October 2023.
Millennials might know him as the old guy who recited the spooky spoken word sequence at the end of Michael Jackson’s 1984 mega hit, Thriller. Here's a video of Price reciting the piece live on The Joan Rivers Show.
