The Halloween Abduction (Ch 2)
Abbeville, AL is a little town nestled between the small town of Headland, AL and the tourist city of Eufaula, AL. It is a town where much of the population put a high emphasis on faith and family. Like many cities in the South, life is centered around church, school, and football. Churches and schools in these rural cities were usually small and family run. Although in churches, people come and go, and pastors generally serve from two to seven years, usually two or three families have a long history in the church and are always representative of the deacon board, pulpit community, treasury ministry, and leadership teams. In small, rural towns like Abbeville, everyone knows everyone. Many of these towns usually have an unspoken code of secrecy and confidentiality. Even if there are people who don’t like each other, they are a close knit group of people. They will gossip all day long about each other, but when it comes to exposing someone for a crime or injustice, it usually won’t happen. The members of and community surrounding Lake Community Baptist Church was just such an example.

Gate
He was never sure of how it started… Maybe it was after he decided not to go with his mother on their usual field trips to the local grocery store every Wednesday morning. He could never forget her wearing that same lavender dress she had received from her older sister Carol on Christmas and her peach scented perfume him and his dad had picked out for her last Mother’s Day. Ever since he watched Disney’s 1992 movie Aladdin, she would always let him pick three items from the shelves he could reach with his tiny arms, but when he had asked her to reach for things above his level, she would always tell him, “Jake, you should never rely on others to take you to where you want to be in life. You’ll get there.”

'Tales From the Crypt' Review
(This is a full episode review, so a spoiler alert is now issued.) Hello there, boils and ghouls. Today's story is titled "The Man Who Was Death," the first episode in this beloved 7-season series. It isn't one of the best or most well known episodes, but it is still a creepy story nonetheless.

Cage
I sat in front of the cage in a leather recliner staring through the bars as the girl began to open her eyes. She let out a soft groan and lifted her head to look around. Her eyelids were still drooping from being half asleep. She blinked a couple of times in the light before stretching her eyes wide open and looking directly at me. I just smiled and sat back in the chair. Where I sat was bathed in shadows so she wouldn’t be able to see me even if she squinted her hardest. At most, she would just see the silhouette of my body resting in the chair.

Searching for the Sound
I walked through the deserted house, curious if I could find anything worth selling. In the far end of the house, I heard a creak of a board and my heart immediately jumped into my throat. I got a hold of my nerves by telling myself that there was nothing to fear. All of a sudden, I saw a shadow dart across the wall and disappear into the next room. Something drew me towards it, probably curiosity or stupidity.

Phobia Pt. 2
There’s a cacophony of lights swirling around my head. Vibrant pigments dancing in the night sky. Each one erratically jumping from one space to another like a psychotic gnat. Each one more iridescent than the next one against the gloom of the sky. They are accompanied by old-timey carnival music, each note carefully choreographed for the movement of the lights. A large concentration of lights is focused around a singular red and white tent all alone in the middle of this field. The grim backdrop of broad trees stalk behind the illuminated tent. It reminded me of a giant spotlight. Almost like Batman was going to come out of the tent at any moment. You can tell the high top is old given the dingy yellowing of the white sections. I felt a sense of joy and comfort reminding me of my childhood days. Not having a care in the world. Well… it didn’t last long.

What's Behind One of Edgar Allan Poe's Scariest Stories
“Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality,” wrote Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1949), undoubtedly one of the greatest names of American literature. Many of his works, which deal with themes such as love and hate, evil and guilt or insanity, and thus provide a deep inspection of the human nature, prove that.
