movie review
Movie reviews for horror fans; from gruesome bone-chillers to dark horror thrillers, a showcase for frightful films that seek to entertain and to terrify.
Old Horrors
Horror movies have long relied on the ordinary-gone-bad scenario to scare you. Childhood playthings create havoc in movies like Demonic Toys and the Chucky series. Household pets like Cujo go on rampages. Even houses themselves turn on people, crushing them in two with their gates and boiling them in showers like the one in This House Possessed. Movie makers know that audiences can identify with the story, and thus be more frightened if they own the object in question. "Hey, I have a doll like that," you might think. And your next thought is, "Uh oh."

‘Child’s Play’ Official Trailer Review: A Boy’s Best Friend!
Welcome, Child’s Play fans! The Child’s Play remake trailer just dropped and it looks really good. With the release of this remake, we’ve slowly started to see a lot of promotional materials, filtering its way on the web, in the last couple of months.

‘Pet Sematary’ Trailer #2 Review: Sometimes Dead Is Better
Welcome, Horror fans! The second trailer of Pet Sematary has just dropped and I’m really excited. I love horror movies. Obviously, Pet Sematary is one of the scariest movies of all-time. Personally, I can’t watch this movie alone and it just creeps me out (laughs).

4 Reasons Why the 'Child’s Play' Franchise Is the Best Horror Franchise Today
As we all know, the Chucky franchise has been alive for 30 years now and has kept quite a reputation with its audience. As the horror film writer/director Don Mancini continues to push this universe to a broader scale, the franchise appears more open for opportunities. After the announcement of a TV series in continuation of the franchise in the works, there’s a lot of anticipation for this to happen being that the events in the latest Chucky film, Cult of Chucky, proves it. This is sheer evidence that Chucky is very much alive and still has room for growth. As of right now, Chucky is the only conscious classic horror icon today that fans expect to expand in terms of film/series. The truth is... Chucky isn’t going anywhere for a while, even with that pointless remake in the works. Regardless of how unsubstantial the Child's Play remake may be, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Chucky is totally done for. As long as the story in the original remains fresh and eventually comes into fruition, then the franchise is in a safe place. I have plenty of reasons why the Child’s Play franchise is indeed the best horror franchise today, but for now, four good doozeys will do. Hopefully you’ll understand why Chucky deserves to be on screen a while longer.

Movie Review 'The Drone'
The Drone is one of the silliest nonsense horror movies of recent memory. The film ranks next to movies like Zombeavers or the Korean horror movie, The Wig, which features killer hair extensions, as a movie with a dopey beyond dopey premise. The Drone features exactly what the title promises, a drone. Only this particular drone happens to have the spirit of a dead serial killer inside of it.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'The Banshee Chapters' (2013)
Hunter S. Thompson and a journalist team up to fight aliens from another dimension ... Not literally, but pretty much. The character of Thomas Blackburn is pretty much just Hunter S. Thompson. Kinda how that one stoner kid from Freddy V. Jason was really just supposed to be Jason Muse.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Yellowbrickroad' (2010)
Great low budget film! I’m calling it right now. This is a Reed Alexander "Must Watch." And here’s the thing, it’s partially found footage which I HATE. But here it doesn’t matter. I mean, the characters are supposed to be a professional film crew so I absolutely wouldn’t forgive them for that "Shaky Camera" bullshit. Here’s the thing though. It was more of a hybrid. While there is a lot of first-person filming, that starts to fade away as the movie progresses and eventually completely disappears. Eventual it’s almost like some mysterious antagonist if filming the crew from the outside.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Bird Box' (2018)
Let me preface this by saying I've never been impressed with Sandra Bullock as an actress. From Speed to Miss Congeniality, I've always looked at her acting career in general as meh. In my opinion, the only award she ever deserved was a Razzy.
